WordPress Manager for Webmin/Virtualmin

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu Linux 24.04.1
Webmin version 2.202
Virtualmin version 7.30.2
Webserver version Apache version 2.4.58

Hello everyone,

I’m looking for a WordPress Manager for Webmin/Virtualmin. really need one like in Softaculous Cloud, I need something like it that can work with Webmin/Virtualmin.
If anyone can help, please.

Thanks

I have used softaculous on a virtualmin server, if i remember correctly you just set it up in the softaclous control panel

no need. you can use the web apps feature to install and then easily set the plugins and 3everything to auto update…if oyu want to totally automate that i do not think web/virtualmin does that…i normally setup the account for my clients and then set everything in wordpress to auto update(unless they do not pay for management)…then it’s up to them. auto update can be problematic as new versions can…and sometimes do result in sites not working correclty or crashing. then it’s on you if you provide that by default.

I think @iliajie is working on one for virtualmin pro, it is not deployed yet though.

Hi,

Generally speaking, the “Web Installer” that is shipped with Virtualmin is all you need to get started. It installs WordPress.

Then “installing/managing” plugins and themes are done within WordPress itself. WordPress also has the ability to auto-update the core code.

Seems if used correctly, no other panel is really needed.

If you want to run multiple sites that make use of “common” plugins and themes, you could always convert a site into a “multi-site” install, then you’d be able to manage the “common” features from a single login, while maintaining “individual” features on a site basis as well.

What feature(s) are you missing when it comes to managing WordPress with Virtualmin (which already provides the ability to install and upgrade WordPress)?

How did you manage to do that? I have tried many times but couldn’t, please share the process with us.

Creating a template saves a lot of time.
Staging WordPress, I miss this feature a lot, especially when working on a big WordPress site, and there aren’t any WordPress plugins that can do it like WordPress Management in Softaculous, with one click I get a new clone of the site with a new database and separated file all working without modifying anything.
Backup and Restore, setting automatic backup for only WordPress script not for all the server is a great thing and the ability to restore it with one click is a lifesaver
Security Measures, I like this it, is easy to change security settings with a click.

Some plugins can do that but to get these features you need to pay for Pro V on each one, so it’ll cost a lot to do the same thing with one license and more cheaper.

This would be awesome to have.

We already have it coming in the Virtualmin WP Workbench plugin!

It includes many features but hasn’t been released yet. Joe and I are still figuring things out.

Here’s an overview of the features—it offers cloning, backups, and much more. Plus, even more features will be added by the time it’s out!

Will this plugin have the option to offer the invitation to the user, if desired, to use multisite?
Thus, the use in virtualmin will be more efficient and with fewer problems.

Can you elaborate on this? What exactly do you expect this feature to accomplish?

Are you studying the possibility of using multisite for your plugin?
There would have to be an interdependence between the VMs of this group that would render each website.
This idea of yours is very interesting.
I still think of a compact version for small users without much skill with the systems, as Cpanel or Plesk did. This version would have to have few possibilities of change in packages with few VM’s 5, 10, 20, …

Could you clarify which idea you are referring to exactly?

The project under development will attract and retain many current users and new customers.

@Joe and I are discussing and preparing it for release.

virtualmin has an excellent backup system already built in…i leverage it as a primary selling point of my business…you can backup only a site or the entire server. i do both a site by site backup and an entire server backup…

multisite also means if you update the main site and it goes boom…ALL of the sub sites go down…it wil be interesting to see how you mitigate that issue.

now this looks awesome…

Are you referring to multisite as the ability for multiple WordPress websites to share some or all tables within a single WordPress database?
