Hello friends please can I create an ubuntu server with local virtualmin at home and use the noip ddns service so that the sites work thank you if you can help me with that
Addresses and Networking->Dynamic IP Update
Virtualmin supports DynDNS easily, but you can use any custom commands you want to update your dynamic DNS service.
Be aware this is not suitable for production use for a variety of reasons (none related to Virtualmin, hosting on a dynamic IP is a mess).
is it a paid service or free ??
I have no idea. I’ve never used a dynamic DNS thing that I didn’t host myself.
If you’re serious about hosting a website from home, you should contact your ISP and ask if they offer a static IP address. For example, I use one and only pay €5 per month for it.
I have already tried but the cheapest fixed IP for us is 30 dollars excluding tax. The idea is that I no longer want to work with Contabo or anyone else because there are a lot of problems with them. I have the idea of working alone but of course with a price optimization
The electricity cost is higher to host yourself than one would pay for hosting crazy to imagine but true. Then you have hardware costs, backups and so forth it is hard to compete with server providers unless you are doing local bidding I will warn you as well there will be many intrusion attempts, email port 25 will likely be blocked. Your networking equipment and connection has to be good not too old and full of bugs and knowledge of proper provision. With that said if you want to spend a lot of time filling out abuse reports, security inspections and upgrades and so on down the line. If you have customers that use your server for abuse you also run the risk of losing your ISP’s connection. So you will want to have clear policies in place to prevent abuse and make them sign a contract relieving you of liability and preventing abusive behavior zero tolerance zero liability policy. This way you can eliminate any bad actors without blowback and keep your connection especially if it is residential and not a business connection.
But good luck on your venture there is a slight secret that can simplify things. In many dynamic setups they don’t switch IP’s that frequently usually your IP is lost because you lose power on your router or your networking appliance.
If you wish to maintain your IP for the longest amount of time get a battery backup and place one on your internet appliance for fiber and also place one on your edge router this way your IP mostly stays the same most of the time. If it changes you simply use the change IP for all servers option and problem is solved. Give it a bit of time to catch and you are good. DNS servers have come a long way for instance you can actually speed up the process by lowering wait times but some even give you the ability to flush the cache for your website.
Like cloudflare 1.1.1.1 — One of the Internet’s Fastest, Privacy-First DNS Resolver thats one instance many are moving to this feature.
Usually its pretty instant if not there is likely a configuration issue. Anyways its doable there may be some down time here or there but not much if you follow the advice of having battery backup that will outlast outages. On occasion the IP may change but really not that much from what I can gather. Your results may vary but if all else fails get a static IP.
and
What country are you in? It sounds like an alternate reality. Historically, with my home ISP, I’ve always had port 25 open, and the static IP only costs me 3 to 5 bucks…
morocco
Yeah IDK used to be open here as well for a couple ISP’s but no longer is. Must just be my area. Email just stopped working one day switched providers was good for a year and same thing happened there. Travels may vary thanks for sharing your experience. I affirmed these things with my ISP’s the port was indeed closed at first I thought it had been an update or something yeah I typically get the issues that catch you off guard like that just like the issue with .tk domains it wasn’t making a bit of sense to me as to why everything stopped working.
Indeed it typically costs about 5 bux or so for static IP for an extra fee cheaper than DYNDNS.
I run my kit at home with a static IP. There is more cost to buying all of the hardware, UPS etc… but the benefit is that you can have a much more powerful server with a lot more storage.
I am running about 5 -10 websites and will also be using my server for other projects (Virtualmin is virtualised). If I had 100s of websites and was my primary business was hosting I might consider using a datacentre.
Check if any other ISP will offer you a better deal on a static IP.
what internet speed do you have?
but can the ISP also block port 25? but why will he do that since you pay a monthly plan for the start of fixed internet
Of course they can, and 90+% of them do. I would be shocked if you’ve got consumer internet service that allows port 25 access.
Are you really still doing all this crazy stuff just because you won’t solve your problems with a spamming user or exploited web application? You will never find it easy to host a server that is sending a bunch of spam, no matter where you host it. Service providers don’t want spammers on their network, ISPs don’t want spammers on their network. So, stop your server from being a source of spam, and you won’t have trouble hosting your websites anywhere (Contabo, or anywhere else). I don’t understand why you’re putting all this effort into avoiding solving the one problem that would make hosting easy and cheap. I’m beginning to think the purpose of your server is spam, in which case, you’re never going to find it easy or cheap. You’ll need to rent a server from a criminal hosting provider that permits spamming (but is blocked by half the world), or you’ll need to keep hopping from one provider to the next because as soon as they figure out you’re a spammer, they’ll block port 25.
So, are you intending to send spam? If so, we’re not the right community for you, it’s not something we have any experience with or any desire to help with. If you are not intending to send spam, you need to follow the advice we’ve given in several of your prior threads about figuring out who/what is sending spam and solving the problem, then you can stop trying to evade getting blocked for spamming because you won’t be spamming anymore.
It isn’t hard to isolate who/what is sending spam, and it isn’t hard to stop it once you know who/what is sending spam, if that’s what you want to do. If evading spam controls (whether at your ISP or a hosting provider) is your goal and what you want us to help with, that’s a bannable offense. We don’t help spammers.
Luego vas a config ssl y activa renovación automática y a cifrar.
Puedes seguir tutorial de virtualmin avalos en Youtube dura algo de 3 horas. Y puedes mirar zerotrust de cloudflare.

This translation service is brought to you by volunteers of the internet.
If it is possible, in virtualmin in the IP configuration, put as local ip 192.168.1.xx then go to config ddns to register your server’s local IP and port. In no-ip you should see your local IP plus port and it has to show the green check that means it is connected correctly.
Alternative: cloudflare (local IP to domain) and zherotier (local IP to public IP) in this case you don’t need to configure your router or open port, the connection is P2P style.
Step 1. Have a paid or free domain with a servername to configure.
Step 2. Create an account in cloudflare or zherotier, add domain and it gives you nameserver examples ns1.jeemixxx.com this same you put to the nameserver of your domain to manage dns from cloudflare or zherotier. Then you go to the zerotrust zone assign a name, then go to configuration and add. Put your local IP and port of your server. 192.168.1.xx:443 then the bottom part there is to enable Https and verify https save and copy ssh command and install on your server via ssh.
Step3. In your virtualmin server you must use local IP when you create virtual server and its domain managed by cloudflare, go to config nginx or apache only should appear mydomain.com and www.midominio.com the others delete it if you don’t use mailserver. And in config https port you put IPv4 if ipv6 if https connection if. Then go to config ssl and activate automatic renewal and encrypt.
You can follow virtualmin avalos tutorial on Youtube which lasts about 3 hours. And you can watch zerotrust from cloudflare.
As a virtual assistant I use IA bing browser helps a lot.
