Hi, in all my servers with the version 7.40.x (Pro and GPL) the link “Re-Send Signup Email” is gone, it was under “Mail options”.
The file /usr/share/webmin/virtual-server/reemail.cgi is not included in the 7.40.x packages.
I hope it is a fixable error.
Thanks
Hello,
This feature is still available but has been moved to the “Edit Users: Edit User” page. Look for a button at the bottom of the page.
OK, thanks, I tried to found it, but no success. Now it is not possible to send to a different email, the button send automatically it to domain owner email. No form to set a different email, like previous versions, it was usefull to send the mail only to server admin, instead to domain owner.
Do you mean this form?
And, some email-related options were moved to templates.
How many versions before 7.40.0 are you referring to?
sorry, I meant that I tried to found it before write my first post here.
The form I mean was in “Mail options” → “Re-Send Signup Email”.
by default the email address was the domain’s owner email, but you can change before click on “send now”.
It was present on version 7.30.8.pro-1 and many previous versions.
I think I have worked it out.
In templates you need to set this
Then edit virtual server and set a contact email.
third and last edit the admin user and you should see Re-send Domain Creation Email
Ummm, new problem. How to re-send the signup email for a sub-server? The sub-servers don’t have a admin user. Then, where is the re-send button?
That’s right, there is no way to do it directly in the UI right now. However, you can do it using CLI:
virtualmin resend-email --domain sub.domain.tld
@Jamie, should we implement this for the UI too?
yes please - not everyone can use/remember all these CLI commands
I’ll add a selector in the UI for which domain to send the signup email to in the next release.
Jamie, I think this niche feature doesn’t belong on the UI. Sub-domains don’t have a separate Unix user, and having this option is really confusing in the first place!
We should avoid making the UI complicated since it only causes problems for both, users and us!
Where else could it go though? We used to have an entire top-level menu item for re-sending the signup email, which seemed unnecessary since it’s so rarely used.
Why not in Usermin (where the menu is pretty uncomplicated) as this is something that only is sent by system admin or domain owner and only sent to specific (perhaps more than one) users?
Agree this is a relatively rare requirement, but users (can and do lose the original signup link) or forget/change their personal email clients (even their whole systems)
- Usermin is a different software and should not be used for resending domain signup information. You would not put it in RoundCube.
If there is a button for resending a domains signup information then in the button cluster at the bottom of the edit users.
- The only known thing at this point would be the domain owner’s email address (which usually should not be the same as the domain that has just been created) and as such you probably don’t want to change it.
- This would only appear if the parent domain was selected.
- This option should be in the GUI as I have clients who need the info re-sending.
- If not where I put it, then maybe the button should be in the domain owners user page.
@Jamie, let’s just send information about all the sub-domains a main user has. No need for a select—what if there are 1000 sub-domains—should I do it one by one for each?
Just get the info about the main domain plus all the sub-domains and add it all to the email.
Please let’s remove this ugly select!
and call it the Welcome Email as I think this is a better name. ![]()
You mean send all the sub-domains in a single email? That could be massive!
