Permission denied when trying to change ip permissions through ssh

It’s been powered on since I installed it on Monday. Can I just power it off or is there a certain way I should do it. Like I said I am very very new to this.

just type reboot

Well I rebooted it and I am still locked out from the interface

This looks like an install of webmin and not virtualmin, this would explain the lack of fail2ban, it could also mean that firewalld is also not installed and the firewall is ufw. The other point is this appears to be a local install and not a vps/remote install so perhaps we need to look at this differently

Yes I’m pretty sure this is webmin not virutalmin

How did you install webmin/virtualmin ?

I copied commands from this website How to Install Webmin on Ubuntu 24.04 | Vultr Docs

ok, try the command virtualmin list-domains

That doesn’t work because I’m pretty sure this is just webmin

ok, maybe port 10000 is blocked.
try sudo ufw allow 10000

else stop the service

What is the output of
service webmin status ?

Says active and other things say enabled

How do I stop the service?

not 100% I dont use it
first try sudo ufw status going on there docs

It says inactive

opps, that different to docs then. maybe you do have firewalld then.

It doesn’t say anything about ports being open. It just says Status: inactive, after I did sudo ufw status

does systemctl status firewalld or service status firewalld
work?

It said that it started up firewalld service. But when I check the status it says unrecognized service

Maybe I can try logging in? I sent a PM
