So new mail received? where did it go? the only mail I can find it the one stuck in Draft (it can’t be that as it was being sent) plus 3 messages in “Sent mail” (which were my test messages sent from the account)

Don’t think so and cannot see the similarity.
The OP shows a screen grab from the user account for a user that has been the source of email problems since domain setup.
It clearly states that a new mail is in the Maildir with a received date 08/13/2023
yet looking in the Usermin account for that user shows nothing received (it is empty) As said there are 3 in “Sent mail” - which are test messages I sent from the account. and that one sent by the user that remains STILL stuck in draft.
The user sent a message to himself today from another account “The subject of another topic” but that didn’t arrive and was “bounced” or more correctly was rejected due to some peculiar error about virtual aliases.
There is nothing in the queue and no errors in maildir
