I see your mail, but it doesn’t take from Gmail…
Once SSL is set up on the Host, ex. nx2.intrelligent.net, Webmin crashes trying to set up SSL on the domain itself. ex. intrelligent.net
So for now what SSL certificate is used by POSTFIX and DOVECOT ?
I think your biggest issue seems to be SSL for your main domain.
Does virtualmin stop and you can’t access ?
Can you still SSH into the system and then restart virtualmin ?
I can’t find a way to isntall SSL on the main domain after installing it on the hostname…
Ok, I’d still say you are confused about what you are doing
I understood your main domain is intelligent.com
So it’s easy to setup this as your hostname and main website. Then to use let’s encrypt to generate an SSL CERTIFICATE.
Then use the buttons to copy SSL certs to postfix, dovecot et al
Can you describe the steps that you tried, and any error messages or let me have access to sort your issues ?
- I created a VS to the host: nx1.intrelligent.net
- I went into Webmin/Webmin Config/SSL Encript/Let’s Encrypt and requested SSL. It was produced.
- I tried adding the main domain to Let’s and it also produced it, but when attempting to reach site, all browsers said not secured.
- then, I tried creating a VS for the domain, SSL didn’t install and Webmin lost connection. When it came back, all SSL’s were gone.
What am I doing wrong?
I’ve never used that option, didn’t know it existed.
for the domain. in virtualmin.
did you edit the virtual server, enabled features, tick Apache SSL wesbite enabled
once SSL is enabled, then go to Server Configuration (for this domain)
SSL Certificate, Lets Encrypt Tab.
and request certifcate from there
Now, I’m confused.
- I create a VS for main domain: intrelligent.net and request Apache SSL
- go to Server Config Request Certificate
- how do I request certificate for host: nx1.intrelligent.net?
I followed your directions and now my host is out of SSL as well…Wow… I never in a million years thought this to be so complicated…
I beg to differ
I’m out again, back shortly
I have some more questions
Which host has no SSL ?
Does it indicate an other SSL not related to domain ?
Webmin doesn’t crash. Something may have gone wrong, but it’s not Webmin crashing. Make a new topic with a description of what actually happened, and it can probably get sorted.
Joe
I think his issue is with the use of domains, setting up SSL and not DNS records
Virtualmin doesn’t crash but if you screw up the SSL cert you can still get access to it using http or just the plain IP address
For intelligent.net
Do you have one domain virtual server and all DNS records for it including nx1, mail, www etc ?
yes, that’s the set up.
intrelligent.net has a self signed certificate
SSl set up is the main issue… I’ve tried in all different ways suggested, and no luck. I’ve changed IP addresses, made sure they weren’t black listed…
I don’t know what else to do… Let’s produces, however, when I try in Webmin, I get an error…or vice versa…
Requesting a new certificate for intrelligent.net, using the website directory /home/intrelligent/public_html …
… request succeeded!
Configuring Webmin to use new cert and key …
… done!
