A sign of an incredible team… Keep up the good work team! HNY.
I’ve patched my version and added phpMyAdmin to a top-level host - I’m keen to use a single installation as a default for all virtual-servers.
I have existing virtual servers already installed, some already have phpMyAdmin enabled and some don’t. When I visit those that do, the ‘manage in phpMyAdmin’ button shows up and all is well.
However, for the other virtual servers, that currently do not have phpMyAdmin installed, do I also need to manually enable those? I don’t see the button in ‘Edit Database’ for them. Is there a separate config needed form them ?
Having phpMyAdmin installed or not won’t affect whether the “Edit Database” link is displayed. For virtual server owner logins, it depends on the enabled capabilities and features on the “Manage Virtual Server ⇾ Edit Owner Limits” page, when for master administrator logins it will also be displayed.
Correction: It will always be displayed if the “MariaDB database” feature is enabled on the “Edit Virtual Server” page in the first place.
When the “Edit Database” link is displayed, and phpMyAdmin is installed as the global default, it will be used for any main or sub-server that doesn’t have its own version installed.
Thanks @Ilia - sorry to trouble you but this is not working for me. The 'manage in phpMyAdmin ’ button works where a domain has installed phpMyAdmin but the ‘master install’ is not functional.
I installed all the patches restarted webmin - even ran theme updates etc. Added PhpMyAdmin on the host domain, as the Master Admin user and ticked the box “use as system default” during installation.
Meanwhile when I visit a virtual server that does not have phpMyAdmin installed separately, one which is running WP - so does have MariaDB enabled in Allowed Features - and Allowed Web Apps also has phpMyAdmin in the list on Server Limits…
Edit Databases shows, but still no “manage in PhpMyAdmin” button.
This was a migrated in user (WordPress) from cPanel.
Any other things I can check to see why the button hasn’t populated?
My apologies, I’m not sure why it doesn’t work for you; it works for me. I’d recommend waiting for the final Virtualmin 8 release or trying the latest Virtualmin development build to see if it fixes the issue for you.
Thank you for helping - I can confirm it works great on virtual servers created in virtualmin, however, for the sites I migrated in the button just does not show.
Can you show a full screenshot of a domain that isn’t working?
