Because it is bonkers putting system settings in a theme, thats why I mentioned it.
I have mentioned this to @Ilia before, and it is not to double remind him, I just felt the need to express my self in this fourm ![]()

Talk to the wordpress coders also as they throw loads of PHP code in their themes that should be handled elsewhere, and the plugin dev’s seem to do it as well. I will reiterate at this current time there is no clear direction for CSF so in order for users to continue to use CSF, a work around has been added. I’m also glad you understand how webmin is built and can say that the work around is easily solvable by just altering 20 years+ of code
I think you should stop being rude.
Explain what is rude ? My assumption was that you understand how virtualmin is built and offering an alternative which I guess should be made via github to push your code to it
Either that or nothing, right? I choose something, even if it’s not great, over nothing to give users a way to deal with this.
So, what do you suggest to do in practice? Not in theory, because theory without practice is nothing valuable. Though opposite true as well.
I’ve been using CSF for almost as long as I’ve been using Virtualmin/Webmin. And I consider it one of the best things on my server (from all angles - ease of use, abundance of options, software appearance, speed of work, etc).
I’ll keep using it - as long as there’s a community and developers (fortunately there are quite a few of both) of free software to develop it.
Aetherinox (who officially taking over development on CSF) is working feverishly and it seems like he doesn’t mess with the core code unnecessarily. He makes separate plugins for new additions (which are up to the user to install).
Many thanks to the Virtualmin/Webmin maintainers who initially added CSF to their software. Whatever they decide will be for the greater good I’m sure ![]()
The truth is that there was never a chance for me to see the hardcoded config vars of Authentic theme unless someone pointed it out to me..
I understand it is a workaround and I have not said don’t do it.
I understand the implications but I was following up @jimr1 asking why I felt that it should not be added to the theme and was not giving a firm response “do not add to theme” I was just saying why in “perfect world” it should not be added there.
What is it that you feel the current solution lacks that is a ‘must have feature’?

What makes this the “Official” release?
I guess this is because
Interesting that cPanel has forked the project.
cpanel’s fork doesn’t look like anything serious.. they’ve forked it 2 months ago (after announcement probably), just to remove old tarballs (for existing cpanel+csf users).
no actions since..
and tbh, if they do decide to properly maintain a fork, i wouldn’t trust them to maintain support for other control panels.

The readme says it.Its just a copy of the final.
These are the final copies of the scripts. There is no intention to update any of these files, so any PR's or other contact will not receive a response.
readme is copied/forked from original repo. and already invalid for cpanel fork, since cpanel did one more change/update already.
Have they fixed up stuff, I remember some of the log location where incorrect, I will have to try on a test machine.
a lot of the forks have had not code changes and limited starring. It definately the wild west we need to wait for a successor to show themselves.
aetherinox (configserver.dev) stands out in the csf-fork saga.
i’ll still wait before migrating existing csf installs, but so far, it seems like the most “serious” and active among csf-forks.
Is the Webmin module still there? ![]()
seems to be
I don’t think any changes have been made, just a fork.
