Zstd compression

How can I enable zstd compression? I only see tar, bzip, gzip, zip. Or is it PRO only?

I installed the zstd package

Thats all got to do with the OS not virtualmin. I have it install on my Rocky 9.

Enable it for what?

You mean for backups in Virtualmin, added a fix in recent updates.

@Joe is that used in the template as I don’t see it anywhere.

Yes backups

so one would have to add it as a command line parameter for tar format?

would it not make sense to have a radio button for it? if it is so much faster and has good compression ratio.

@Jamie, don’t you think this is a reasonable suggestion?

So right now, we only support de-compresion of zstd archives as they are used by cPanel in some cases. However, we could totally add this as another compression type that can be used for Virtualmin backups. I’ll add this to my TODO list…

Ok this has been implemented for inclusion in the next Virtualmin release.
