Who is 'marc' and why is "he" an alias for root's mail?

webmin > servers > postfix > aliases > root

by default there was an alias setup for root’s mail, “marc”

i thought maybe “marc” was some sort of alias for some default something-or-other until i started getting notifications of undelivered mail to “marc” (from CSF), so i removed it and now all seems fine

why was that there in the first place?

I remember investigating that a few years back. Its nothing to do with Virtualmin.
Here is why, it should of been disabled, it is in Rocky 9
