The upcoming Virtualmin 7 uses MariaDB exclusively on all supported distros.
Virtualmin 6 installer will use MySQL on Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 20.04 systems. 18.04 has MySQL version 5.7.x.
Also, you cannot safely run Ubuntu 14 on a production system. It has been EOL for several years, and is almost certainly dangerously insecure.
