An older Virtualmin (on Ubuntu 20) I have has /var/webmin/miniserv.log, which if I head I have entries starting in 2021… looks like the day that it was installed.
In this newer Virtualmin (on Ubuntu 24) there is no such file. Has it been removed elsewhere or is it really dumping that content to syslog? On my (all defaults I think) install that only goes back a month and doesn’t really break out miniserv.log lines in a meaningful way that I can see.
Ultimately I’m trying to track down why I keep ending up with hundreds of thousands of these:
too many children (51 > 50)
in /var/webmin/miniserv.error, and a non-answering :10000 till I restart webmin.
Something like a log specific to miniserv with dates and sketchy entries that look like they lead up to a DoS of the service might go a long way to helping me sort out some proper fail2bans and so on.
