What I’m hoping it will do is essentially redirect mydomain:443 to mydomain:10000.

I use Apache so I am unsure if this works with nginx but it does with Apache

1. create a virtual server with ONLY apache & and apache ssl website selected with your host name as the virtual host domain name
   
   
2. then go to the newly created domain → Web Configuration → Website Redirects and redirect / to the same site but with :1000 appended it should look like this
   
   
   
   this appears to work without affecting anything else
