Virtualmin on a dynamic IP....

I have virtualmin/webmin set-up on a dynamic IP. I’m also using freedns to keep my IP updated and the correct IP pointing to my server. The problem is, my IP changes 3 or 4 times a day, and everytime it changes, I have to log into virtualmin via the new IP, remember the old IP, and manually change all virtual servers to the new IP. Sometimes I even have to restart the server itself.

Is there some way to set up virtualmin/webmin to automatically update all virtual servers with the new IP; when a new IP is detected? Or run the server off of a static(dedicated) LAN IP address. I’m really DNS illiterate. But any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Howdy,

I don’t recall if this is in all Virtualmin versions, or just the Pro… however, if you look in Addresses and Networking, do you see an option called “Dynamic IP Update”?

That menu contains a way to automatically update all Virtual Servers whenever running on a dynamic IP, and it changes.

It does have the options, but DynDNS is the only listed dns update service listed. Or do I even need to list this. Will simply changing the Dynamic update enabled? to yes do the trick? Thanks.

I don’t need to update my DNS service, just the virtualmin system.

I am facing the exact same problem - It’s driving me carzy - Apache is designed to use *:80 but virtualmin doesnt seem to support this

Was there ever an answer to this? I’ve run into exactly the same issue.

How to get Virtualmin to automatically change the ip address if it changes.
