It seems that some packages cannot be downloaded from this URL: http://software.virtualmin.com/gpl/universal/

Of course, I checked my network card and my DNS: everything is fine.
My question is: why I cannot download some packages with the install.sh script?

If I dowload them manually, it fails too.

Is there any reason?
I tried since many days, same.
I have noticed that if I tried to download these packages from my server located in US, it’s ok, but from my server is China, I cannot!
So, second question: can I download manually these packages and install them myself? Then, next time, the install script should not try to download them again right?
Thank you

Howdy,

What error do you get when trying to download those packages from that server?

However, I do suspect that if you were to manually install those packages, that it would prevent it from trying and failing, and the installer may just work

The error is when the install.sh script tried to download some packages from software.virtualmin.com:

Example:

–2011-05-25 01:47:12-- http://software.virtualmin.com/gpl/universal/wbm-virtual-server-3.84.gpl-1.noarch.rpm

Retrying.

Actually, I am located into China at the moment…

That’s probably the problem!

You know, the fuc…ng “Great Firewall” of the fuc…ng great government of China!

They blocked some websites from China as you know: Facebook, …even Google!!

Regularly, google.com is not reacheable and for a couple of minutes!!!

Same thing with software.virtualmin.com…unfortunally!

I don’t know why, it’s new: before today, I didn’t this kind of problem!

Finally, I downloaded the missing packages and install them manually.

Example (for information for other users):

  1. from a server where I can download them (from software.virtualmin.com), I download them
  2. now, from the server where I cannot download from software.virtualmin.com, I use the mirror:

    wget http://www.my-private-mirror.net/virtualmin/ust-virtual-server-theme-6.9-1.noarch.rpm

    Then I install the package:

    rpm -ivh ust-virtual-server-theme-6.9-1.noarch.rpm

NOTE: you need to download/install in the right order (anyway, you have a message about dependencies from RPM
  3. now, you can run again the install.sh script

and it should work.

Thank you Eric for your support
