Virtualmin install problems on Debian 12

I tried installing Virtualmin on a Debian 12 (clean Debian 12 on Hetzner cloud) and two strange things happen without me changing anything:

  1. The hostname (which is fully qualified) does not show in the Virtualmin Virtual Server list. However it does work, including HTTPS. Even weirder in the features and plugins section one can click on the domains using a feature and there it shows up.

  2. Apache SSL is not showing as an option in the Edit Virtual Server list. It is switched on in features. Added websites do have a working HTTPS version.

Gotta ask why 12 and not 13 before we get further along.

Go to “System Settings ⇾ Virtualmin Configuration: SSL settings” page and change “Setup SSL certificate from provider for hostname” option to “Yes, and have it configurable”.

The problem is that Virtualmin does not work yet on Debian 13 that has cloud-init. Firewalld can not be installed toghether with cloud.init. So I’m moving to Debian 12 as support for debian 11 ends at the end of August.

Thanks, now it does show up and glad it is just a setting.

On the other question: I guess it is nothing special too. No Apache SSL option for Virtual Servers is normal, because all websites are SSL now?

Yes, it is enabled by default now, no worries here.
