Ive installed Virtualmin on a laptop running Ubantu. It installed correctly.
I wish to run a website on the server however I am having difficulty setting it up so it can be accessed over the web.
I think the problem is caused because I am running it behind a Lynksys router so its creating a Virtual hosts issue.
The Computers ip address is 192.168.1.60
The external ip address is 82.4.151.***
On a Virtualmin video the instructor alluded to a way of setting this up, Ive been unable to find what it is.
Forward ports 80 and 443 tcp in the router to 192.168.1.60.
Outside users would use the ip 82.4.151.***, and all traffic on ports 80/443 from the outside would be sent to 192.168.1.60. Server would respond normally. Users inside the lan would/could still use 192.168.1.60.
That’s if you’re using IPs. If using domain names it becomes little more complicated. Would need domain name pointing to the public IP 82.4.151.***. And some mechanism to update your home Ip for the domain name if it is not static.
