when i use the wonderful option of creating a virtual-server alias, am i allowed to create any users associated with this virtual-server?
By default, the email accounts of a Virtual Server alias are the same as those available to the parent. So you’d just add new users or aliases to the parent domain, if you want more in the alias.
Or, when you’re creating a Virtual Server alias, you could go into Create Virtual Server -> Create Alias with Own Email, to have a Virtual Server with separate email accounts.
That feature is fairly new – it just came out a version or two ago. So if you don’t see it, make sure you’re using a recent Virtualmin version.

i had a look (please see attached) but i dont see an option to add the name using “Alias of comptonpesltrainers.com, with own email”
here is the situation i can see coming up: having a name and email like
Hmm, normally you don’t need to set the Email Prefix, it should be set to automatic by default… and that should only be necessary to change that in atypical circumstances.
I suspect the alias is taking the “Email Prefix” setting from the parent though.
You should be able to setup an email address as you described above with each of your domains. If you try it, does it work properly? Or isn’t it allowing you to create the email addresses you want?
eric - sorry i missed the email prefix-name option! yes that works… perhaps in the next release it should blink so i dont miss it again?
but my question has not been answered: what if i want more than one email addy using the prefix “eric” or “info” - for example, is it possible to have a dozen virtual-servers with the prefix “eric”

There’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to do that.
Try it… and if you happen to run into problems, let us know, but every domain on your server can have an account or alias named “eric”.
