Hello,

I had 5 servers to update with 3 updates each, virtualmin, webmin and usermin. All were previously up to date. Not paying too much attention I did a complete update for the first 2 servers (ie the 3 packages in one shot) and on both, the usermin update did fail, both serveur are now showing a usermin v2.202, one is mentioning that this is not up to date, but when clicking on the “All installed packages are up to date” to refresh both do not propose the 2.203 update.

On the 3 other servers I did update first virtualmin+webmin and only after the usermin update and it went through no problem.

It seems that something is happening when updating virtualmin+webmin/usermin that prevents usermin update to complete.

On the next batch of updates I will update usermin separately, I was wondering what I could do to force the usermin update on the servers that failed, the Software Package Update seems to think they are already up to date …

PS: Debian 12.

This is a very odd issue. And, yes, you can reinstall Usermin by running:

apt-get install --reinstall usermin

Doing
apt-get install --reinstall usermin

returned a
E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. ,

so I did a
dpkg --configure -a

and everything was back to normal
Thank you very much !
Pierre.
