How do you install webmin without usermin?

dnf install webmin.

Yeah your right, just testing now, i’ll have a play.

Has to be a bug @staff??

how about

dnf install usermin

?

Yep, that did it. Is that normal to install it, I thought it was part of webmin.
Bug that the install rpm button didn’t work though.

It’s still a fault though.

I am on the side of *min not needing to be manually operated.

So i guess the install command line would be

dnf install webmin usermin

They are different packages after all. When I install webmin i don’t install usermin as a rule as the enviroments I use webmin don’t need usermin

Looks like it might be a seperate install by the docs.

My point is that Webmin offers to install it and then fails.

Looks like a bug, feels like a bug.

It’s a bug.

Please everyone read the OP.

Yep, its a bug.

That does look like a bug. I’ve never even seen that feature, though. I’ve always installed using the system package manager (or as part of a Virtualmin install, which also uses the system package manager).

Are you logged in as a root-capable user?

Not only, but also.
dnf install usermin y
Installs, but then it won’'t start.

Logged in a root.

I didn’t get that error, but I did have the GUI issue.

EL9 or EL10?

Pretty sure 10 (destroyed it now). Let me try again. (rocky I think)

Just noticed after repo install  Alma-10

GUI install still fails but install ok with command line, only issue it need to be started manually

I see that error, too. It’s new/weird. But, Usermin is running.

Try logging into port 20000. It should be there (and if it’s not check your firewall…Usermin and Webmin packages do not touch any firewall on installation, they are not like Virtualmin). I’m looking into why that error has started happening, but it’s not actually preventing you from using Usermin.
