I’m having trouble with my Dovecot IMAP/POP3 Server after the recent update. It won’t start, and I’ve tried restarting my VPS and checking the configurations without success.

Have you checked the service status of dovecot, this will normally show errors at attempted starts, you could do

service dovecot status

Look at that output and you may find the error
As you have not supplied os version, webmin version and dovecot version this is just a guess

It may be too late now, but if you’re running a vps you can probably do a complete backup before updates so in case something breaks you can easily roll back. Also, system updates should ideally be done during low traffic at night, preferably during weekends.

You need to look at the mail log or the journal for the dovecot unit.
