after a recent round of updates, the usual software update emails are missing the domain name. wondering what else this might be screwing up?

You may want to take a look at System Settings -> Virtualmin Config -> System Settings. There, try setting “Virtualmin URL for use in email messages” to your preferred URL.
not sure where to find “system settings”… but i think its deeper than that. on the system information section of the page visible upon login, the system hostname is listed simply as “lamp1.”
Well, that could indicate that the hostname has been changed to just “lamp1”. You can always change the hostname to your preferred hostname.
However, I’d start by changing the Virtualmin settings, and then work from there.
System Settings is in the Virtualmin navbar on the left, towards the bottom – you can only see it when logging in as root or another master admin.
i figured i could change it, but im more concerned how it got changed in the first place and what other surprises are in store?
