Update Detected Operating System Mismatch

Operating system AlmaLinux 8.8
Webmin version 2.021
Usermin version 1.861
Virtualmin version 7.7
Authentic theme version 20.21

Have just updated from AlmaLinux 8.7 to 8.8, through Webmin. As the dashboard OS version was incorrect I went to

Webmin / Webmin Configuration / Operating System and Environment

8.8 was detected and I selected Update Webmin to use detected OS (I think that was it), dashboard now shows 8.8

Now on the dashboard I get
Operating system AlmaLinux has been upgraded to version 8.7
Update Detected Operating System

which is obviously wrong. Any idea what’s happening?

I have cleared Webmin cache & rebooted and cat /etc/os-release shows 8.8 across the board.

Edit: Clicking Update Detected Operating System has no effect.

Try a “Force System Refresh”

“Force System Refresh” = No change

It took a day but the message has now gone from one of my servers - I guess I’ll expect the same of the other.

Yes - I have had a similar problem the “Force System Refresh” doesn’t seem to work the way you would expect - it might be browser cache related or even some other cache. 24hrs is always a good time frame along with the suggestion “sleep on it”. Glad it has resolved itself.

I just upgraded Rocky from 8.7 to 8.8. Same thing…

cat /etc/os-release
NAME=“Rocky Linux”
VERSION=“8.8 (Green Obsidian)”

Still displaying Operating system Rocky Linux has been upgraded to version 8.7. under System Information. Will wait the 24hrs and see.
