Unable to forward messages to other servers

Hi,

I installed Virtualmin (GPL, using install.sh) on a minimal Centos 6.5 32bit box. I haven’t made any customization to the system since I dedicated that VPS to Virtualmin and I want to use it the standard way.

If I create email aliases that forwards to another mailbox on that system, it works. But if I forward to another system, it doesn’t. I tried vith hotmail.com and virgilio.it. In both cases emails get lost (I checked the spam folders).

I can send messages from my VPS to those addresses, only forwarding doesn’t work.

Here’s an example of what I found in maillog:

The emails were delivered successfully to Hotmail, as per this log line:

There’s nothing more you can check on your system. If the mails did not arrive at the correct Hotmail mailbox, it’s a problem on Hotmail’s side, you need to investigate it there.

Hi,

that’s the same thing I thought when I saw the logs. But it still seemed strange to me that both hotmail.com and virgilio.it were ignoring my forwarded emails, while they were accepting regular emails.

I thought it was an issue with Virtualmin or with my new host, since on my previous VPS, where I used Webmin, the same forwards were working fine.

I added the SPF record to my DNS and it led virgilio.it to accept my messages. For Hotmail, I also needed to add the forwarded address as an alias. And that confirms that Virtualmin is working fine :slight_smile:
