Todays Update (14-May-2024) wants to update Apache2 when it's not even installed

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Debian 12
Webmin version 2.111
Virtualmin version 7.10.0 (Pro)
Related packages Apache2

I was looking at the packages to be updated today and saw that it wanted to install Apach2 (plus support programs).

I do not have Apache2 installed, I’ve swapped over to NGINX. This doesn’t seem to be correct, and the last thing I need is for Virtualmin to think it’s now using Apache!

First see if it is installed but simply not running would be my first step.

apt-cache policy apache2

root@main:~# apt-cache policy apache2
apache2:
  Installed: 2.4.59-1~deb11u1
  Candidate: 2.4.59-1~deb11u1
  Version table:
 *** 2.4.59-1~deb11u1 500
        500 http://deb.debian.org/debian-security bullseye-security/main amd64 Packages
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
     2.4.56-1~deb11u2 500
        500 http://deb.debian.org/debian bullseye/main amd64 Packages

root@main:~# systemctl status apache2
apache2.service - The Apache HTTP Server
Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/apache2.service; enabled; vendor preset: enabled)
Active: active (running) since Wed 2024-04-17 09:17:35 EDT; 3 weeks 6 days ago

I have been on nginx ever since i learned to hate Apache did all the updates today (to pick up the Virtualmin ones) and am glad to confirm still no apache :relieved:

I have run the requested command and here are the results.

apt-cache policy apache2
apache2:
Installed: (none)
Candidate: 2.4.59-1~deb12u1
Version table:
2.4.59-1~deb12u1 500
500 http://security.debian.org/debian-security bookworm-security/main amd64 Packages
2.4.57-2 500
500 Index of /debian bookworm/main amd64 Packages

So, it;s not installed but still wants to update Apache. That’s not right!

There’s a bug in virtualmin-lemp-stack version 7.0.5. Don’t install it!

Sorry, in our rush to get Ubuntu 24.04 support out the door, this update didn’t get thoroughly vetted and some changes Ilia made to the dependencies broke the LEMP package generation.

Do I get a “Good catch, Nigel!”.

I think Ilia owes me a beer! Glad you found the issue …

Nigel.

I think Ilia owes everybody a beer. I’m sure if you look him up in the island paradise he currently calls home, he’ll oblige.

England?

Well, if it’s England at least we’ll get real beer!

Because you’ll be close enough to pop over to Belgium?

I suppose someone might call England paradise? I don’t think I would.

Depends wether youu are crossing the english chanel in the back of a lorry or in a small boat

I removed your link. It doesn’t pass the sniff test for neutrality (feels like pretty icky nationalist propaganda to me).

I come from England, and I agree with Joe, it’s no paradise! But it can still be a good place to live or visit.

Used to live in Belgium. When it comes to Lager beer, I will totally agree. Especially (when I lived there) when every type beer came in it’s own unique glass. I do miss a good litre of “Mort”!

England and paradise can not be used in the same sentence
