probably another silly question - but I seem to be getting even more senile as I get older.
When you change the Theme Configuration -> Default Page for Virtualmin to a different page, it does not make the change until you use the clear cache button.
sorry @Ilia left off the â?â but just as @shoulders added, is it deliberate and intended that you have to clear cache every time one makes that change?
it just seems like an extra step:
one goes to theme configuration to deliberately change the âdefaultâ VS being worked on, but nothing changes unless one clears the cache
now I know one could also select the VS from the dropdown in the main menu but doing that is only temporary when one goes away, perhaps to another VM, one logs back in to the original VS, not the one one is working on
perhaps I have an odd way of working, but when I change a âconfigurationâ and make the effort to actually âsaveâ it, I expect it to take effect?
The confusion might be because a virtual server name is selected, not Virtualmin Virtual Servers or Dashboard. Also, selecting a virtual server name wonât make it selected by just clicking the Virtualmin switch at the top right of the navigation menu.
It only works on login because any virtual server currently selected in the navigation menu stays selected and doesnât reset. Werenât you the one who requested this feature back then?
So, to answer your question, any virtual server you select in the navigation menu becomes the current default, and the settings in the theme config are only applied in this case after you log in.
when I log in I expect to arrive at the same virtual server (dashboard page) as the (or whatever page) as where I left off so assume that was the âconfigurationâ
if I select a different virtual server from the main menu drop down menu I expect to stay on that virtual server until I log out.
if I select different page (typically File Manager) I expect to stay in that page of the same virtual server until I log out - which I rarely do
is that not what most users do?
others probably chose a different page accepted as they log in to do other tasks
again the âconfigurationâ should dictate the virtual server at log in
after log in the selected virtual server in the drop down should determine what is being worked on until a different virtual server is selected.
Sorry, I donât completely understand the problem youâre facing.
Iâm not exactly sure what you mean, but it should happen just like I described earlier. If it doesnât and itâs important for you, please provide the exact steps to reproduce it.
@ilia I would class it more as a serious nuisance not really a bug more of a bug-like (I have a work around which is remembering to go into and âconfigureâ every time I log in)
As I seem to be the only one affected and it is a bit mad round here today
I will come back later to add the exact steps plus browser info
