Hello,

Could you share an example file that isn’t being read correctly for us to try and diagnose?

Do you mean the file editor in File Manager, right?

I have attached the file below.

Do you have a file for us to look at in the iso-2022-jp charset?

I have attached the file below.

Thanks for sharing it. I have tried opening it, and it seems to work just fine, I guess? Have a look:

If it doesn’t work for you, can you share a screenshot of how it looks for you?

Furthermore:

  1. What happens if you manually change the encoding?
  2. Also, do you have Automatically detect file encoding option enabled in File Manager ⇾ Preferences: File viewer and editor page?

Finally – what is the meaning of 配?

mix, match, marry. like a lot of Chinese it depends on how you put it (context).

It has to be Japanese, not Chinese, I think.

Thank you for your reply.
I will share the screenshot.

I also tried the following method, but the character code was not read regardless of whether the function was ON or OFF.

Preferences: Is the ``Automatically detect file encoding’’ option enabled on the File Viewer and Editor page?

ISO-2022-jp is not displayed in the manual selection field.

「配」 has no particular meaning. It was a test so anything was fine.

Can you just drag and drop a screenshot here? You shouldn’t upload it to external resources. It would be interesting to see which encodings are present. Also, which OS are you using?

When you upload a file using this form, the following error occurs and you cannot attach the file.

[Sorry, new users can not upload attachments.]

The OS is Windows 10 and the browser is Google Chome.

I think that question was relating to the missing information that is requested of you when you started the original post (not the OS of the PC you are using). It is easy to copy to the clipboard using this middle icon on the Webmin Dashboard
