SSL certificate created by virtaulmin for virtual server is not trusted

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version ubuntu 20 / google compute
Virtualmin version newest 7.2

Debian GNU/Linux 11, bullseye
Kernel 5.10.0-23

She was barking like crazy I was hoping to get some help with the SSL certificate that was created along with my virtual server, while it went through the process it stated that it was getting the certificate from lets encrypt, however upon connection this certificate is still not trusted. We have a certificate provided to us from our DNS provider cloudflare, but when we replaced the SSL certificates installed by the virtual manuscript, our web server would no longer start properly.

I likely did not copy the cert properly, and then now looking through the documentation in the forms for anything related but figured I would submit this ticket in the meantime. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide

Newest is 7.7 actually. (but don’t think that is the problem)

But this is sounding like a DNS problem something even with the use of cloudflare.

  • have you checked domain resolution? It can take 48hrs for a name to be resolved globally. (I have no idea how quick cloudflare is) so in a browser you can http the site ?

Lets Encrypt Certificates are trusted. when they are installed Web based on a new VS install most problems seem to fall into the DNS not being set up correctly I would have expected some error message to be logged during obtaining the cert.

We are updated to 7.7 here, but it appears that the only way to reach any kind of option about SSL is through the DNS server which we’re not even really needing to run a DNS server, I remember previously there being an option related to the Apache web server where you could initiate the creation of an SSL certificate, and I am completely unable to locate that option at this moment. Do you think that there is a possibility that the update may have caused some sort of issue with me being able to access or see this option where it is supposed to be located?

I have no idea about cloudmin (I don’t use it - consider it an unrequired add on) so that needs response from others who do.

I do not use Virtualmin to manage DNS - though accept that it does it perfectly well (to me it just seems like extra work)

I start all my VS with the DNS option unticked. set my nameservers at the registrar, set my DNS A/AAA records up on the box provider’s domain management page, wait for name propagation, then request LE certs in the VS SSL management. They almost always work perfectly. The error if any are nearly always me doing something daft (like requesting wildcards or some typo/mis-spelling)

Server Configuration -> SSL Certificate -> Let's Encrypt
