Shared Ip Virtual Servers

Hi,

I just installed a clean CentOs with Virtualmin. and I want to do the following.

Using one public Ip 208.69.xxx.xxx I want to host the 2 sites with different domain names like website1.com and website2.com. I know this is a simple task i have done it manually before with apache alone.

I have created a virtual serve for website2.com but i fail to create a virtual server for website1.com since it is the domain I used for the network, it gives an error about this domain name is allready in the awstats or something like that. I named the virtualmin server ns1.website.com

Also i notice virtualmin works like a nameserver, I have my domain names registered with domainit.com. Can I have DomainIt manage the domains and just let virtuamin handle all the hosting. Or do I need to change the nameservers to virtualmin server. DomainIt ask for at least 2 nameservers.

I know this are simple task, and not so smart questions but virtualmin does not have documentation at all, I looker over and under everywhere but there are no detailed documentation anywhere :frowning:

it gives an error about this domain name is allready in the awstats or something like that.

Hmm, that’s an odd error to get there… do you think you could copy in the exact error you’re seeing?

Can I have DomainIt manage the domains and just let virtuamin handle all the hosting.

Sure, that’s no problem… just go into System Settings -> Features and Plugins, and disable the “DNS Domain” feature.

Thanks for the tip and the quick response.

Im doing a clean install right know, updating the CentOs ( using 5.3 as VM in Citrix Xen ) and then clean install virutalmin. As soon as it done, I will post the error about the error about the virtual sever not created for the domainname used in the network.

I had a typo the server its named ns1.website1.com. Anyways I have always been able to recreate the error, so maybe its me. But the fqdn of the server shouldnt conflict with the virtualmin virtual severs, right?
