Setting Up a WordPress Website in Virtualmin

I’m currently in the process of setting up a WordPress website using Virtualmin, and I would greatly appreciate your advice and insights. I’ve been exploring the documentation and tutorials available, but I still have a few questions and would love to hear from others who have experience with this setup.

Specifically, I’m looking for guidance on the following topics:

  1. Best practices for installing WordPress within Virtualmin.
  2. Recommended configurations and optimizations for WordPress websites in Virtualmin.
  3. Any specific challenges or considerations I should be aware of when using Virtualmin with WordPress.

If you have any tips, tricks, or personal experiences to share, I would be extremely grateful. Your expertise will go a long way in helping me ensure a smooth and successful setup.

As far as I know , all virtualmin does is have a install script to install WP. That it, the rest is up to you. I’ve got 4 or 5 WP installs in virtualmin and only part virtualmin plays in it is the install. You best talk to the Wordpress community for optimizations as its huge.
I really can’t think of anything in virtualmin that would be needed. Maybe someone else can think of something.

Oh, have the latest PHP version installed, 8.2 I think and have database enable.
Secure WP add a 2fa plugin, but that again has nothing to do with virtualmin.

Use the script to install - it works really well.

I select to install as top level rather than under a sub-directory called wordpress.

I don’t know if there is a good reason either way, it just seems tidier to me.

The option to use Same Username and password as domain doesn’t work for me so I select to do it manually.

Apart from that, it’s just wordpress.

@Randomz @stefan1959 Thanks for providing way. Additionally, How do I set up automatic backups for my WordPress site using Virtualmin?

Please open new topics for new problems. (But, also, there’s documentation for backups and restores: Backup and Restoration – Virtualmin )
