Restore server backup to different domain

Hi all,

Just looking for some advice on the best way to manage a server upgrade.

I am moving a client from old, slow ServerA to shiny, new ServerB. In doing so, we are moving their site from Domain1 to Domain2.

So the virtual server exists on ServerA under Domain1. I want to back it up and then restore it to ServerB, but “apply it” to Domain2.

I suspect this can’t be done, but can folks advise on the best way to tackle this situation?

Howdy,

One way to do that would be to migrate your domain as-is to the new server, and there, just rename the domain to the new domain name.

You can change the domain name by going into Server Configuration -> Change Domain Name.
