the background

I have no idea how this happend. The only difference between my dev site and my live site is the point install that I used to install with. I must remark that the interpretation on minimal is quite different betweent he 2 versions.

the issue

When I run resolvectl status I get the following error

resolvectl-status-error

If I restart the dbus service here Webmin --> System --> Bootup and Shutdown the command will work and give me the expected resutls

resolvectl-status-Correct

  • If I restart my server the fix is lost.
  • I compared the action scripts of this failed dbus service with that of a healthy dbus service and they were exactly the same.

Question

Does anyone know where I can start to fix this, perhaps some suggest journal log commands to watch?

This is definitely one I am stuck on.

Thanks in advance

additional

  • systemd-resolve - wikieduonline - systemd-resolve is a systemd service that provides network name resolution to local applications via a D-Bus interface.

Update:

I thought it might be an issue with the startup entry so I

Webmin --> System --> Bootup and Shutdown --> dbus

Disabled dbus from starting at boot, then I tried to set it to run at boot to rebuild the entry but it will not save as yes but always reverts back to No

so I ran systemctl enable dbus from the terminal and this fixed it.

I will check if the first solution is a bug or if Webmin code needs a tweak.
