But, WebTrees says it works with newer versions. You should not install old versions of PHP if you don’t need them.

Upgrading PhpGedView, requires version 1.7 for wizard.

Generally speaking, a newer major version of PHP should work with apps that were written with older versions of the same major version. I’d be shocked if you have an app that runs on 7.3 that won’t run on 7.4 (maybe with minor config changes, but probably not even that).

It won’t be a problem anymore, as I just added Webtrees install script to Virtualmin Pro users.

It will also automate post-installation fully.
