I am wondering if I can have a Webmin only mail filter server authenticate against a VMin server to save having to import/update userlists from time to time?
If so, what would be the best (simple and reliable) approach?
I have been trying with using an IMAP login, but it’s not working for me yet - though it looks good on the VMin server logs.
Suggestions welcome.
Have you looked into using Dovecot’s SASL for remote auth? If IMAP logs look fine, maybe it’s just a small config tweak away—curious to hear how you’re handling credentials and what error Webmin throws, if any.
Yes, I have been using dovecot-sasl and it has been close to working.
I tested so much stuff it ended up getting confusing, so at this point I have reinstalled the OS to have a fresh start when I make time and enthusiasm.
VMin was ok about the authid, but the webmin server was timing out, it wasn’t accepting the response/certificates at a guess.
