On the host system running Ubuntu 20, QEMU and Virtualmin are installed. On QEMU’s VM1, Ubuntu 20 with Virtualmin is installed. Everything is working properly except for email forwarding on VM1, where emails are only being delivered to the forwarding address and the sender is receiving a 5.1.1 error message indicating that the email was not delivered.

Gotta look in the mail log. The client generally has no useful information.

Apr 16 06:53:48 example postfix/local[20665]: B58F6A241F31: to=tester-xdomain.com@example.domain.com , orig_to=tester@xdomain.com , relay=local, delay=0.22, delays=0.19/0.01/0/0.02, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (unknown user: “tester-xdomain.com ”)
tester-xdomain.com should be tester@xdomain.com
Forwarding displays correctly as dsn=2.0.0.
Only when forwarding is enabled. The email only goes to the forwarded address.
When forwarding is disabled no 5.1.1 anywhere but ofc no forwarding.

Sorry about that! Unfortunately, Virtualmin 7.5 has a bug. Upcoming Virtualmin 7.7 is going to fix this issue!

Is there any solution until version 7.7?
Does the problem only occur on virtual machines qemu, vmware,…?
