seems like a silly ask, have just attempted to transfer a VS (single domain) from one VM to another in a different country.
after initially making a backup I was going to just import the backup but then noticed Manage Virtual Server -> Transfer Virtual Server which sounded like the correct route.

However I got this

I’m pretty certain the form was completed :man_shrugging:

so in despair and a helping of impatience :frowning: I tried uploading the backup - only to get a number of files and directories that clearly did not help.
but at least looked like it might have got them on the new VM :+1: but not as a new VS

[Ed.] also tried Backup and Restore -> Restore Virtual Servers which has worked well enough for restoring a complete backup in the past, but :person_gesturing_no: not tis time

I’ve never used this feature, so…

The connection error is a bit odd. I see two options. SSH and Webmin RPC. I have the RPC thing set up for my DNS configuration. (master/slave)

Do you see anything in the error log on the receiving server?

nothing - and even worse the domain was not even added to the list of domains
both OS the same both PHP versions the same both are Apache web servers. :puzzle_piece:

It often pays to sleep on it
So I thought - why not create the VS on the destination server before attempting the restore
that worked - or at least seemed to:
everything in place and the domain in the VS list :+1:
only one small niggle

easy fix just click on “Recheck License Status” and that was fixed too :+1:
