Preview URL / Site Preview?

Hi

Is there a site preview function (similar to Plesk) that allows sites to be tested before DNS is changed / resolved?

Something like http://myserver.com/~myvirtualsite.co.uk

Cheers

See this FAQ:

http://www.virtualmin.com/faq/cat/virtualmin/68/#faq44

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I’m still a little stuck though!

From Virtualmin, I click on ‘Server Templates’, and then ‘Default Settings’.

From there, I have a dropdown menu:

Default domain owner limits
Administration user
Home directory
Mail for domain
BIND DNS domain
Apache website
Log file rotation
MySQL database
ProFTPd server
Webmin login
Virtual IP address
Plugin options

But none of the above options have the ‘Automatically create alias domain’ option. Am I missing an option?

One of your posts at http://www.virtualmin.com/index.php?option=com_fireboard&Itemid=77&func=view&id=11039&catid=8 says that there should be an option for ‘Virtual server creation’, but I don’t have this option?

What version of VM are you running? Your OS? This may be just a VMPro function, I can’t say as we haven’t run the GPL for a couple years.

Hi

I am running Virtualmin GPL on Amazon EC2, as detailed at http://www.webmin.com/ec2.html.

I am just looking for a way of easily previewing sites without updating DNS.

Thanks

Lewis

Hmmm…It looks like it is a Pro-only feature, though I can’t imagine why. I’ll see about getting it ported down to GPL in the next release.

In the meantime, I’m pretty sure the View website via Webmin feature is available in GPL.

Thanks for your help in this so far.

I cannot find a ‘View Website via Webmin’ feature anywhere… maybe it doesn’t exist in the free version?

Egads. It’s only in Pro, as well. Again, no good reason for that, and I’ll add it to the list of things to bring into GPL.
