Podman network_mode

Hi. I submitted a ticket using “Pro support”, unfrtunatelly nobody responded in that area. Here is my Podman case.

Operating system: Debian Linux 13
Webmin version: 2.670
Virtualmin version: 8.3.0 Professional

When I import compose.yaml, I get this:

  Preview Compose Import : services.phpipam.network_mode supports only host.

Here is the compose.yaml snippet:

  phpipam:
    image: phpipam/phpipam-www:latest
    network_mode: "pasta:--map-host-loopback,169.254.1.3"
    ports:
        - 127.0.0.1:18080:80/tcp
    environment:
        - IPAM_DATABASE_HOST=host.containers.internal

I’m trying it this way because I don’t want to set MariaDB to listen on 0.0.0.0, and I want to allow the container to connect to MariaDB on the host machine. That message comes from the tool imports the compose file, which only accepts (correct me if I am wrong here) network_mode: host. I could try to avoid network_mode entirely by setting the pasta option globally in containers.conf, so the compose file stays plain and the importer accepts it, but something tells me to get the Virtualmin team’s recommendations first :slight_smile:.

We haven’t missed anything. Later, I commented and provided feedback.

@Kirill, I have also prepared a new Virtualmin Podman 2.1.0 with small fixes and two new recipes recommendations: Percona Monitoring and Management Server, and phpIPAM. I’d recommend fetching the latest development build from download.virtualmin.dev and giving it a shot.

I’m planning to release it in a few days.
