Non-reproducible storage space consumption

I have a Server which currently have 40 GB of Storage.

The disk is nearly full.
But if I check the disk-usage on CLI, I don’t get where the disk-usage comes from.
ncdu for example, shows for dev/sda1 (which is the main-drive) that something round about 16GB are used.

I don’t get, where the 40 GB are used. Any hint how to figure this out?

I’ve assigned now 80 GB of discspace in the cloud and change the partition-table.
After Reboot, it magically goes down to 12 GB for dev/sda1:

So it might be some strange error / issue with partitions?!
