Hello, when I change my IP Address, this error comes out ‘No virtual servers were selected, or none exist on your system. No virtual servers needed to be updated!’ What should I do?
Hello @namoa and welcome to the community.
Are you effecting the IP address change via Virtualmin -> Server Configuration -> Change IP Address to change it for just a virtual server or via Webmin -> Networking -> Network Configuration to change it on the entire system?
Is this a new system that you are working on? If so, then no virtual servers have been created (i.e no domains for hosting have been added) and the ‘error’ message that you see is telling you just that - since no domains / virtual servers are pointing to the IP address that you wish to change, Virtualmin need not update any virtual servers to point to the new IP address.
You can be assured that the new IP address that you have provided has been applied, even though you see the message that you do.
Hello thank you for the reply. I am really sure, my ip address haven’t been changed as I always got an error when I wanted to make a virtual server. I need to change the ip address every time I made a virtual server. So is there an ACTUAL way to change the primary address.
You originally said “when I change my IP Address, this error comes out” and then later, “I am really sure, my ip address haven’t been changed”.
Now, to create virtual servers, I go to Virtualmin → Create Virtual Server and enter just the domain name and password, leaving all other settings at default, and hit the Create Server button. This works just fine because Virtualmin assigns the default shared IP address to the newly created virtual server.
Which error is this? Is it the ‘No virtual servers were selected, or none exist on your system. No virtual servers needed to be updated!’ or some other error?
I needed to change it to virtual with IP as the IP adress on top was wrong. When I created a server with the default settings it says ’ Failed to create virtual server : Failed to work out externally visible IP address’. I am really sure because the primary ip adress havent been changed.
Then this is the root cause of the problem. It is this issue that you must address (no pun intended) before Virtualmin can work normally on your system. If you ignore this error and focus on other errors which are produced when you use Virtualmin in different ways in order to work around the root cause of the problem then you will encounter error messages which will mislead you entirely.
So what should I do to resolve this problem?
