Redhat Enterprise Linux 7.9 (HP Proliant server)
Webmin version: 2.021
Hi, I’ve been using Webmin for at least 15-16 years but this is my my first visit here…
Some days ago I installed 6 x 16 TByte new disks to both servers and I thought it would be nice to monitor them. It is WD-drives USB 3.0. Previous and also in parallell there are 2, 4 and 8 TByte drives running.
The problem is that Webmin status monitoring facility does not recognize these new 16 TByte disks (error is: “Not installed”). I’m using the “Smart drive check” option for monitoring the disk statuses.
The service SMART Drive status is showing the disks correctly, as I see.
So - could there be a limit of “acceptable” disk sizes in the Webmin status monitoring service?
PS Sadly I cannot attach screen dumps here…

There is no standard for SMART output formats. Webmin has to parse/guess, and sometimes new drives introduce new labels or new layouts for the data, and Webmin doesn’t recognize it.
The quickest way to get this working is to open a ticket on the Webmin github with the smartctl
output for these drives. You can see this ticket as an example of what that ticket should look like: Drive temps not being reported on Dashboard - Data in smartctl -A or -a or -x · Issue #1881 · webmin/webmin · GitHub

Er, I guess it would be even quicker for you to implement it yourself using that patch Ilia posted to that ticket as a vague example of what needs to happen. But, Jamie or Ilia will probably get to it reasonably quickly if you make an issue about it.

Though that error is weird.
Can you see those drives in the SMART Webmin module?
Yes… and I figure that is the same as the “Smart Drive status”…
(and a clarification:
1, 2 and 4 TB old disks are OK to monitor, 8 and 16 TB old and new disks ar not).
I recently started these monitorings of “SMART Drive Check” - I’ve earlier looked att the RAID status only…).

Well… here is Smart status of one disk that is not recognized by “System and server status” but seen in “Smart drive status” (an 8 TByte disk):
Location
SCSI disk B
Drive size
7.45 TiB
