Just wondering if someone could point me in the right direction, I’m using webmin to run multiple non-profit websites for various charities in the toronto region for free and have run into some difficulties.
I had been trying to add a user to ftp and something has gone absolutely wrong.
My DNS server and Mysql server instances do not want to start nor run
From the DNS I get the following error code:
“Failed to start service : Failed to start BIND : Starting named: [FAILED]”
And from the Mysql Server I get the following error code:
“Failed to start service :
Timeout error occurred trying to start MySQL Daemon.
Starting MySQL: [FAILED]”
Also all the websites except the webmin modules now display a 403 error page. I’m guessing webmin isn’t affected as it runs on a different webserver.
First thing you might wanna do is check the logfiles, usually in /var/log, for problem messages. Especially BIND and MySQL should put a little more detail about what went wrong than just “Failed to start BIND”.

It sounds like you’re seeing some unusual errors, and the issues point to something in /var/lib/mysql… what output do you receive if you run this command:

I’d have tried, but since he “required references” (which I don’t have - aside from two years hosting experience under Linux) I didn’t bother offering.
