Do not use the old installer. That’s not the right way to get MySQL, and it is not a supported configuration.
I don’t recommend MySQL, but if you must use it, it’s easy to get it:
Start with a fresh Ubuntu installation.
Install MySQL server and client packages.
Install Virtualmin using the current install script.
Everything will work as normally.
