Modify-dns subdomain

how can i update a subdomain dns ip from the command line?

i have tried this but it does not
virtualmin modify-dns --domain sub.domain.tld --dns-ip 10.0.0.1

errors with

Domain sub.domain.tld does not exist
(The domain does exist)
