Merging three Webmins/Virtualmins

Yep its a option. Maybe a option for the database prefix as well.

It has always been like this, as far as I remember. It’s controlled by the “Include domain name in usernames” config option.

Since we’ve had this enabled for decades, let’s also set “Domain name style in username” to “Full domain name.” I find this to be the best default configuration for systems hosting multiple domains, where clashes are common.

Just look how clean and beautiful it looks:

I don’t think anything could be better or cleaner for systems that host more than one domain! This looks splendid to me!

No I think we should leave Domain name style in username as it is. Since most systems aren’t going to have domains that clash in the first component, this leads to shorter and easier to remember logins for domain owenrs.

@Jamie, consider creating the following, commonly expected set of top-level domains and subdomains:

company1.com
shop.company1.com
support.company1.com

company2.com
shop.company2.com
support.company2.com

To cause a clash, we don’t need company1.com and company1.net; any name in a top-level domain will do, and it’s fairly easy to get.

Wouldn’t company1.com, shop.company1.com and support.company1.com all be under the same owner though?

not on my server most sub domains are top level servers

Actually, no. At least not always, as it’s better to have a separate Unix user for each domain.

@Ilia First it’s not the point of this topic; so please to avoid any beginner to be lost it would be better to create your own.

Then personally I consider there is nothing to change on the current setup. It work perfectly, no need to try reinventing the wheel at each topic.

Last and I will repeat what I think I already said. This concern 5% of the community. But most professional team will have 1 server per Hub and that’s it. The rare case where you want multiple platforms on the same server, it’s when you don’t have visitors and don’t generate revenue.

Then concerning some setup you suggest. Personally I would rework the architecture.

@zohaib09 As already mentioned above. You would be faster to simply create the 3 Needed DB yourself and then restore each individually.
