Hello.
Something bad is happening. Emails inbound are being bounced back to senders with messages like this:
The full error report contained in the bounced email:
Reporting-MTA: dns; the-domain.com

Arrival-Date: Wed, 24 Jun 2015 00:25:20 +0000 (UTC)
Final-Recipient: rfc822;firstname.the-domaint@com
Original-Recipient: rfc822;firstname@the-domain.com
Action: failed
Status: 5.4.4
Diagnostic-Code: X-Postfix; Host or domain name not found. Name service error
for name=com type=A: Host found but no data record of requested type
Please notice the expansion and the solitary “name=com” on the last line of the error report
Why are email address:
-
concatenated to contain a period mark “.” between name and domain, and;
-
I’m really confused as to why Virtualmin or postfix is trying to lookup “com”.
Thank you.
