Mail forwarding busted

SYSTEM INFORMATION
OS type and version Ubuntu 20.04

So, I have the same problem described here:

(Mail not forwarding in-server but email addresses function)

Is there any way to work around this issue without changing the machines hostname?

Can I add hostname to my hosts file and set it to localhost or something?

What makes you think it’s the same problem, and not just a similar symptom?

You’ll need to look at the maillog (or the journal for postfix) to know what’s actually happening.

Fair enough!

I cracked open Mail.warn and its LOADED with an error connecting to spamd.

Oct 31 13:02:53 thedomain spamc[3721618]: connect to spamd on ::1 failed, retrying (#1 of 3): Connection refused
Oct 31 13:02:53 thedomain spamc[3721618]: connect to spamd on 127.0.0.1 failed, retrying (#1 of 3): Connection refused

And in mail.log I filtered down to the user in question and got this:

Oct 31 12:48:44 thedomain postfix/local[3719737]: 60705E7A26C7: to=<theuser@thedomain.us>, orig_to=<theuser@thedomain.us>, relay=local, delay=0.47, delays=0.41/0/0/0.06, dsn=5.1.1, status=bounced (unknown user: "theuser")

The user however, exists, and can get mail from other means (gmail etc) any idea what I should approach changing or fixing?
