License Types/Future expantion?

Hello, everybody:
I’m trying to figure out a couple of things all at once.
Right now, as a time saving option, I’m trying to upgrade to Virtualmin Pro soon (though money is the pending factor).
I’m going to be doing this for time saving reasons (like some of the additonal installation scripts, wich I honestly just love), and so on.
But hear is my question though.
I don’t think a ten domain license is a good idea (because I need room to expand at a moments notice without asking people to help me upgrade when I hit a limit in my license allowance when I myself cannot do it on demand if someone were to order me to do so for them instantly, or else lose customers).
I have no honest idea how many domains I may need allowance for (and as sub-domains are counted as additional domains in this aspect site wise,) I find it simply chalanging to make an informed decision.
The GPL version servs my needs (but only until I want to provide automation features on demand to people that Pro will only provide, no matter how good you folks make GPL ever be or try to make it be, as Pro is where it is and surely you developors who work on the code of Virtualmin daily are in agreement).

I’m presently dealing with the primary startup costs associated with the launching of getting my web hobby project off the ground to money-making venture. And virtualmin licensing, is a small part of that quite signifigant cost.
I’m just trying to decide if, a fifty domain license, is a good idea, vs a 100, and all that.
But ten is far too limiting. Then I’ll be running down the road into the problem of if not similar to:
Oh, great! I need to upgrade right now, despite the fact that money doesn’t grow on trees, customers are yelling at the owner/system admin/webmaster/all hat person of the server, and so on because they want feature x that owner can’t provide, and so on.
That’s a pretty bad sanario, however I am sure it can be likely.
So I’m trying to make a decision, considering that I have a single server, that I will be running a lot of websites that I work on, in addition but not specificly dedicated to, customer sites, etc.
I’m trying to decide simply put, if I should just wait to leep to Virtualmin Pro until I’ve saved up enough for say a 50/100 domain license, etc.
Obviously, this will drive startup costs through the roof the longer I wait.
Have there ever been customers in the history of Virtualmin, who have say been happy with a "fifty domain " license of Virtualmin Pro for life, and who continue to say pay for that license today?

Also, since I’m working on ideas to help me make money (while I try to launch my dreams as such) as the only person who runs and wheres all hats at once in this venture, I’m curious about something.

I can’t decide if trying to become a virtualmin reseller (someday) or an affiliate is the most profitable offer.

I’m always looking for ways to help making a bit of extra income a possibility, so any ideas are welcome.

Are any of you happily either Virtualmin partners and or affiliates?
If so, it would be nice to know how your experiences have been in terms of satisfaction rates and such.

I’m toying also with the idea of charging someday for virtualmin server administration services sort of like an independent freelancer as such that I’d do, and based on the amount of work done would determine price factors.
I’m trying to specialise in your Virtualmin software because I believe that I could maybe, potentailly at least, make money as a virtualmin’s system admin on top of the other things i’ve tossed out here.
No voluntary stuff here mind you.
It’s all about making a living, and thus charging for and expecting payment as a result, or no services of any type being offered in that space from my perspective, or I wouldn’t even be trying to specialise so heavily in Virtualmin and betting maybe my entire lifes work in the potential of your product to help generate income opportunities. I’m not, nor do I have an interest, in being a work for nothing admin or anything else that doesn’t involve payment through my intense focus on Virtualmin as a product generating platform if I’m right to believe so strongly in this supposed potential possibility.
And, for the few things I just might not know, these forums have been extremely helpful, so thanks to all you community members.

It would be nice to someday have a forum where customers have shared storys about how Joe and Jamie’s product has helped generate money into your pockets, though I’m especially interested in how you customers who are actually individuals have managed if money -making has ever been something you folks have done, did things if love of technology also is what your life centers around. How has Virtualmin itself been a success in your lives as end-users, psingle people using the product, and all that?

Thanks folks!

That’s not typically a problem, especially if you only have one license. Though, it is capable of sometimes being an issue, as the upgrade manager here isn’t as awesome as it should be. So it doesn’t hurt to plan around that. That said, you could always plan to upgrade to the next level before it’s an issue, rather than after the limit hits (ie, performing the upgrade when you reach 9 domains, rather than 10).

I have no honest idea how many domains I may need allowance for (and as sub-domains are counted as additional domains in this aspect site wise,) I find it simply chalanging to make an informed decision.

Each domain that has a unique website counts towards the license. So if you have foo.com, and bar.com, and each has their own website (regardless of whether it’s a top-level Virtual Server, or a Sub-Server), it counts towards your license.

If you have foo.com, and foo.net – and foo.net is just an alias that points to the same website as foo.comfoo.net would not count towards your licensing.

There are a lot of Virtualmin Pro customers who currently have a Virtualmin 50 (and have had one for more than a year). The same goes with Virtualmin 10. It just comes down to the needs of each person.

You ask some other good questions there, I hope to hear what folks have to say regarding Virtualmin and their businesses!
