There seemed to be something wrong with a virtual server (seemed to be incomplete and had a corrupt website), so I decided to delete the virutal server since this was only used as a forwarding and create it again.
When I created the virtual server again it seems that the server I deleted was just recreated, because it still had the exact same redirects even though I did not create those yet. There was also still al problem with the server being incomplete. Eventually we fixed this, but is there a problem with deleting virutal servers? Looks like the virtual server is not deleted completely since the virtualmin remembered everything when the virtual server was recreated.
Hi Jim, yes I mean a virtual server. So the virtual server already existed and I deleted it. After it was deleted I created a new virtual server (same domain) and it seemed it just recreated the package I had deleted.
Yes this is indeed where I found the redirects and yes the ‘standard’ redirects were there, but the package was a forwarding to another website. So when I deleted the server it had a redirect to a different website. When I recreated the server it had the exact same redirect still, so it was still redirecting to that other website (which I did not create on that new server yet).
The term package is a bit confusing, what is that exactly. There is no package hadling in virtualmin. Only time I see a package added if its need by software like wordpress, and I’ve never seen virtualmin remove a “package”. Only time Ive seen the term is regarding software packages in webmin
not created from a backup by any chance?
also was confused by the term “package” perhaps this really should be “plugin” (as per a WP or other website add on?)
we are missing quite a lot of basic info to help the forum provide help.
There was a problem with a specific domain/virtual server. I deleted this server by going to ‘Disable and delete’ >> ‘delete virtual server’.
I waited till virtualmin said everything was deleted. However I still needed this domain/virtual server so I decided to recreate it.
I recreated the server by going to ‘create virtual server’, filled in the domain and all other info needed and created the virtual server. This was then created.
Normally when you do this you have a clean domain/virtual server with nothing (but the standard stuff) on there. However, for this specific domain/virtual server the problems that I had in the original virtual server were still there, as well as the redirects that I had only put in the original server and not in the newly created one.
So i’m wondering if there is a problem with deleting virtual servers, since I did not get a new/fresh one when I recreated the virtual server/domain.
What is the webserver? It could be relevant to folk reproducing this issue
sounds to me like something connected with the template as I cannot reproduce this (I only use Nginx)
