Issue on "Apply Zone" on master node after modify a zone

Hi,
i’ve done a patching activity on my dns servers (3 servers in totals, 1 master and 2 slaves) and after patching and reboot, i’ve seen that if i do a modify on a zone and save it, the sync between servers goes fine.
But if i click on the “apply zone” button, it report the error below:

NDC command failed : rndc: ‘reload’ failed: dynamic zone

Could you help me to understand what is failed on my system?

Describe what you mean by “patching”…

Hi,
with “patching” i mean update of all linux rpm packages.

However i’ve done a downgrade of webmin version, from 1.994.1 to 1.973.1 and now all works fine.

Is a bug of new release of webmin (1.994.1) installed on that os version and on master dns server?

On slaves the “apply zone” button works fine.

Which repo are you getting Webmin from?

People often make the mistake of using the Webmin repo for Virtualmin which can break things due to a compatibility issue.

*** Virtualmin repo carried Webmin version tested and confirmed to work with it. This means it’s also sometimes a bit behind the Webmin repo version intentionally. ***

Hi, we’ve only the webmin tool installed.
The repo url used is this one:

http://download.webmin.com/download/yum/mirrorlist

It’s actually not Webmin itself that is having a problem, but the type of zone you created.

Based on the error itself

NDC command failed : rndc: ‘reload’ failed: dynamic zone

You created a dynamic zone, which doesn’t that you need to “freeze”, then “thaw”.

Basically the program “rndc” is issuing the error, not Webmin.

no, i don’t think is an issue on zone configuration because when i’ve downgraded webmin, without do any change on zone, the apply zone button works fine.

I’ve also tried to reinstall the version 1.994.1 and do apply zone and it not work again with same error message.
